5SDF1045H0002 is ABB 4500V StakPak press-pack fast soft recovery freewheeling diode, matched with dedicated assembly frame 3BHL000986P3002 as a complete power stack unit. It is always paired with 5SHY3545L0010 snubberless IGCT to form a full power bridge arm for medium voltage power converters.
The press-pack ceramic sealed design eliminates internal solder layers, delivering superior thermal cycling reliability; the device fails in short-circuit mode to avoid generator loss-of-field runaway risks in power plant excitation systems. Soft recovery characteristic drastically reduces switching reverse recovery losses, lowering cabinet heat generation under continuous 24/7 heavy load operation.
Mainly deployed in GE EX2100 static excitation converters for gas/steam turbine generators, also used in ABB ACS6000 medium voltage variable frequency drives.
